When is the shop open?

Monday to Friday: 9.30am - 5pm
Saturday: 9.30am - 2pm
Sunday: CLOSED
*Please note we are also CLOSED on public Holidays, and we do our best to keep our hours up to date on Instagram, Facebook and Google Business listing.

We answer the 'chat with us' website widget as regularly as we can, but will do our best to do so only within normal shop hours.

My order arrived but, the boxes look like different art supplies?

Ah yes! We here at TheArtShop try our best to reuse all the packaging and boxes our art supplies arrive in, and also pack your orders securely and swiftly.

During this process if we are packing items for you from the shelf that are not in a box/protective packaging, we will pop it in any box or packaging it fits well in from our big buckets in the packing area.

Therefore often for example an 'Art Spectrum' oil paint may be packed in a 'Gamblin' oil paint box - PLEASE OPEN ALL BOXES OR PACKING YOU RECEIVE, BEFORE MESSAGING enquiring if your order is incorrect.

We additionally have this reminder to open all boxes highlighted on your invoice included in the order.

What are these 'Standard Stock' and 'Order In' labels under the products all about?

Here's a quick guide to our item labels:

STANDARD STOCK
This is the default, all items start as being marked as standard stock, in 90% of cases we try our best to keep these items in stock in the store, but it's not a gurantee as we do not keep items in the online shop 'stock counted'. We get more stock delivered daily from our amazing suppliers so rather than have items dissappear willy nilly from the website because someone walked in and bought every 'size 0' of their fave paintbrush, we keep the items on the website ready for you to order. If theres any problems outside of our usual terms and conditions of sale WE WILL CONTACT YOU!

ORDER IN

Despite moving the store to newer bigger digs (5 / 477 Dorset road Bayswater) we have already filled the shop to the brim. (The boss is so good at that!) But there are still so many lovely art supplies we have access to, that simply don't fit in store. To accomodate items that are not often ordered, but still lovely we are marking them as 'Order in' simply purchase on the website as normal but please allow extra time (10 days on average, select items list longer times in their description) for us to get these items from our supplier and then send on to you!

DISCONTINUED - ONLINE ONLY
These items will be leaving the store - I know it's sad sometimes, but items change (and sometimes improve!) It'll be ok, here's one last chance to buy them!
Mostly in the 'SALE Items' section of the menu. we pop these items away from the floor in the shop so that we CAN have them stock counted. Stock levels are displayed when you click in to the item and once they're gone - they're gone!
Items are discontinued for various reasons, sometimes the manufactuer has stopped making them, but often it's also we can't get regular stock or the supplier we were using to get these items has decided not to continue. We also very occassionally create custom bundles of products or 'overflow' stock the boss has decided to sell cheap under this category.

Do you do art in the store? / Can you teach me how to...?

We wish! Or rather, we would if we had the time!

We employ a lovely team of amazing staff members, many of which are working artists. We would love to do more with in-store demonstrations and worshops but we simply do not have the physical space in the shop because it's full of products. We do have some past demonstrations that we did 'After Hours' recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel (with more being uploaded!) and once they're all edited we may move onto new digital content where we can play a bit more with the supplies.

The easiest way to keep up with anything extra we can crank out is to sign up for our email list in the footer/bottom of the website/ on any page (which is opt in only, we send out a message fortnightly-ish) or our social media: Instagram, Facebook.

Can I bring my dog in-store?

YES! We are a dog friendly shop, we do request you keep your dog leashed and close to you at all times as other shoppers may want to keep their distance (most staff would love a pat if pup is willing)

Please note Shop dog 'Red' (go look at Instagram for photos) is in store most Saturdays, and any day she is in we have a prominent sign on the front door. She is generally off lead and on her mat, but if you are dog cautious, or just not sure let us know by knocking on the front door and pointing at the sign and we can put her on lead and keep her behind the counter whilst you shop.

Can I order stuff online, but pickup in store?

YES! You absolutly can, when going through checkout you can select 'Pickup' instead of having your item shipped. (That's free too, yay living near Bayswater Victoria perks!)

Please WAIT until we email you a 'Your Item is Ready for Pickup' before coming here for the order. Orders are processed as fast as possible, but we only process orders during our shop opening hours.

If you would like an item that is marked 'Order In' you NEED to order it online, as it is 99% of the time not in stock, in the physical store (more on that in the FAQ question above re: Order In labels...)
