What is a granulating colour?
Granulating colours are pigments which appear in multiple shades when dissolved in water creating a textured or mottled effect. This is achieved when differing gravities of pigment particles cluster together to form small groups when spread on paper.

Holbein Artists' Granulating Watercolours are made with at least two different pigments that gently granulate and create beautiful textured and colour-blend effects. These effects can be controlled by the amount of water that is added as well as the type of painting surface, with rough papers accentuating the granulated finish.
