With Kuretake’s rich history of over 120 years, our technology has produced amazing results with Nara SUMI manufacturing methods. Soot, which is one of the ingredients for SUMI ink, enables users to express all the uniqueness of Japanese SUMI characteristics such as granulation, glossy finishes and beautiful dark shades to your art.

[PIGMENT] The combination of soot and pigment creates both deep and light side of color. It helps you to make a beautiful gradient.

[COLOUR] This set includes 6 greyish colours with hints of darkness. You can express unique shades of SUMI by adding more water to produce granulation or less water to produce a glossy and rich finish.

[CLEAR]To create pale, transparent colors or granulation, add lots of water. Colors will be brighter with slightly dark tones.

[DARK]To create dark, dusky and opaque colors, add less water. The unique gloss of SUMI will appear.

[VERSATILE] This paint set is ideal for drawing, calligraphy, lettering, illustrations, fine art, and much more. Make your artwork stand out by adding SUMI to your next project.

[Brush Dexterity] Pans are much larger than typical watercolor pans, giving you the ability to use both small or large brushes quite easily.

Packaging
